This is one of my first longer format comics attempts, back from 2014! One of my classmates at SCAD was trying to publish an anthology of comics called "Unrequited." The theme was stories about unrequited feelings, whether romantic or otherwise. I have a weird niche interest in Elizabethan love ballads and had been wanting to play with illuminated manuscript aesthetics and experiment with unconventional page layouts, so I did so in this 20 pager!
I used lyrics from Elizabethan ballads, and the title is taken from a song by Thomas Campian titled "Thrice Toss These Oaken Ashes"
