drink your tea

This is my most recent work, created 2025-2026. I have been exploring color changing teas and floral teas such as Thai Butterfly Pea Flower and Hibiscus, which both change colors when acid is added. I marvel at the vibrancy of color, and how similar it is both to the petals, as well as the changing light at dusk. Light travels through the fluid is no different than our atmosphere, reminding us that the air is a fluid; When we stand by the lake, we are also in it. Forever, the twilight gradient amazes me as it accesses a magic that is all at once personal, communal, and intrinsic. Where once I viewed it on a mountain, now I drink it from a flower and over a lake whose surface becomes a pearl in the dusk.

diary of a painter

These are my works between 2021-2023, created in departure from digital art. They record a conversation. In the azaleas growing around north Atlanta, I found a color which exists beyond comprehension and lives my own soul. I found a guitar that sounds like the mountain and shares that same color... And I listened to the dancing shadows of the leaves in the forests. Magnolias bloom in parking lots as well as in the forests. All history can be heard in the color of the Earth. Untethered, I returned to the midwest, where I sat with the Illinois prairie and felt kinship with coneflowers.
